In related, albeit much more somber, news – I found out late last night that Nujabes, the producer whose remix I used for the background music in the above video, has passed away. You can read what his friend and frequent collaborator, Shing02, wrote about it here: http://e22.com/nujabes/
If you’re unfamiliar with Nujabes, I suggest searching for him on youtube, and then buying his albums Modal Soul and Metaphorical Music, as well as the Samurai Champloo soundtrack(s). I’m not a music critic so I won’t attempt to explain his influences, techniques, styles, or contributions to the field. Nor will I try to outline his career, life, or merit as a musician. Instead I’ll just say this: he was a true artist and made beautiful music, full of emotion and soul.
