The London Trocadero, or ‘Troc’ for short, is the biggest entertainment complex that is situated at the Piccadilly Circus. But there is an underground section that acts as a passageway for commuters from Trocadero to Piccadilly Circus underground (subway) station. The London Trocadero Underground is an actively used space for all styles of dancers to practice for FREE from 9am-11:30pm/midnight.

Troc would welcome dancers from all over the world as the Troc is a melting pot of dance styles within London, and as a result it has spawned its own community of dancers. There have even been small events held in the Troc from time to time.

In recent news the Troc was shut down due to unfortunate events that occurred within the space. A meeting that took place, between the owners and some of Troc’s most loyal and respected dancers, has resulted in new rules being enforced, and any other necessary actions, to ensure that the Trocadero can continue to provide for dancers. Therefore, it is a possibility that the spot will be reopened.

To keep it short, for those that hope to travel and dance at the London Trocadero Underground, the new rules that are enforced have to be followed exactly otherwise the spot will close. After review, there is only one space in Troc that can be used as dance space – the others have been deemed health and safety hazards by security.

Since the London Trocadero Underground is privately owned space, the venue can be closed down at any time.

This situation is a great example of what can happen when people disrespect/abuse the space they dance at, or get on the wrong side of the owners. They’re providing you a space to dance/practice and it is important that, as dancers, we are respectful of the owner’s wishes.
